My name is Josh Westbury.
On a muggy Monday morning in August of 2003 my life, as I knew it, was
ruined. On that day I was introduced to
the transformational, life-altering joy of reading the Bible in its original
languages. My life would never be the same! Learning to read the original languages
enabled me to taste and see the goodness of my Lord in ways I never knew. Knowing Him more through His Word, and
helping others to do the same became the sole passion of my life.
That Monday morning was transformational in more ways than
one. Little did I know, but God had sat
my future wife right in front of me in that 8am Hebrew class. Although terrified at the prospect of
learning Hebrew, after seeing her sitting in the class, I knew I had to
stay. Shortly after graduating from
Houston Baptist University in 2005, Bri and I were married.
Since 2004 I have served on staff as the Minister to
Students at Wilcrest Baptist Church in Houston Texas. I am currently finishing up my Masters of
Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. After graduating from SWBTS in December
2008, Bri and I will be moving to Stellenbsoch South Africa where I will pursue
an M.A. in Biblical Languages at the University of Stellenbosch. In addition to academics, God is opening up
doors for us to join His ministry of racial reconciliation in post-apartheid
South Africa. We hope to do this through
the preaching of the Gospel, teaching of His Word, and relational ministry, as
well as provide support for pastors who have long worked towards this
reconciliation.
